Pavel Haas Quartet
with Pavel Nikl

Sunday 8th October 2017, 3:00pm

Venue: John Innes Centre

  • Programme:
  • Stravinsky: Concertino
  • Ravel: Quartet
  • Dvořák: Quintet in E flat, Op.97

Dvořák composed his Op.97 quintet in the wake of his famous ‘American’ string quartet, during a stay in Iowa. Its slow movement contains a melody he intended as a new American national anthem. The Pavel Haas Quartet from Prague also plays the string quartet by Ravel, and Stravinsky's Concertino, with its pre-echoes of his ‘Soldier's Tale’.
