Mark Padmore - tenor
Till Fellner - piano

Saturday 30th September 2017, 7:30pm

Annual General Meeting at 5:00pm
Pre-concert talk by Misha Donat at 6:30pm

Venue: John Innes Centre

  • Programme:
  • Schubert: Der Wanderer an den Mond; Im Freien; Am Fenster; Das Zügenglöcklein; Viola; Die Sterne, D.939; Der Winterabend; Des Fischers Liebesglück; Bei dir allein
  • Schumann: Dichterliebe

One of our foremost tenors, Mark Padmore, and the Austrian pianist Till Fellner perform some of Schubert's most subtle and hauntingly beautiful songs, including ‘Die Sterne’, with the twinkling of the stars suggested in the delicate repeated notes of the piano part; and ‘Das Zügenglöcklein’, in which the tolling of a small bell is evoked by a single note chiming throughout. Finally, Schumann's ‘Dichterliebe’ is the most heartbreakingly tragic of his song cycles.
