- Sonata in C minor, D.958
- Sonata in A, D.959
- Sonata in B flat, D.960
The Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi, a former BBC New Generation Artist, is particularly admired for his sensitive interpretations of Mozart and Schubert. Here, he plays Schubert’s last three sonatas, composed in September 1828, just a few weeks before his death at the age of 31. Each sonata is very different in character: the C minor first of them dark and dramatic, the A major middle work radiant and lyrical, and the B flat major last sonata serene and valedictory.
