The Turkish-American pianist and harpsichordist Tolga Atalay Ün was born in 1995. In September 2016, he was selected as a scholar for the ‘Young Musicians on World Stages’ project established by the well-known piano duo of Güher and Süher Pekinel. Here, Ün plays Berg’s romantically inclined Sonata Op.1, written during his period of study with Schoenberg, and the Op.1 Sonata by Brahms – a youthful work on a grand scale. Nearly 40 years later, Brahms composed his Three Intermezzi Op.117, which he once described as “the cradle songs of my suffering”.
